Photography is an attempt to forever preserve a split-second in life as it once existed. Whether artificially set up in a studio or taken naturally in it’s native surroundings, whatever has been photographed, is some object or event that once took place. Serious photography is an attempt to freeze that visual memory of light, shadow, time and space without leaving behind lingering regrets. While videos can add sound and the illusion of motion to a series of photographs, a great photograph can also make you recall all of it – the sounds, the smells, the experience, everything. What’s in an existing photograph can never be naturally duplicated. The lighting, time and place of it will have forever changed. Another photograph may look very similar at a glance but on closer inspection, it’s not quite the same.
Views of Hawaii's favorite vistas without the fish-eyed distortion that was common in many older wide-angle photographs.
Our collection of flora endemic, indigenous, and otherwise to the State of Hawaii. Few decorative touches convey the warmth and feel of the islands as well as these floras do. These prints set in extra-wide matting surrounded by Koa or simple metal frames can bring the islands into your home.
Hawaii’s native, endemic fauna are endangered species. Chancing upon any of them in the wild is always a treat to behold – always a memory to cherish forever.
Cityscapes, landscapes, sunsets, sunrises — some things old, some things new, some things borrowed, and some things blue.
